Meeting His Parents

So, I drove up there Thursday afternoon. We decided to go to his youngest sister, Kallie's, colorguard show. So, I met his mom, dad, and Kadison, the older sister there, and one of his grandmas, so we sat there and talked with them before the show started. Right before it started, Ruth and Rick showed up. (Rick is a guy from church that Tyler's known his entire life, and Ruth is Rick's wife. She isn't a member, but Tyler and Trevor, Tyler's brother, are always finding reasons to make her go to church with them.) Ruth reminds me so much of my mom. She is so awesome. She actually sat next to me the entire time during the show and talked to me. Rick, was a little bit more difficult. The first words out of his mouth, like even before he introduced himself, were "Tyler is going to BYU-I, and that's final." (Rick is the one who's paying for Tyler to go to school.) And so I told him that I wouldn't dare take him away from that, and I think that both of us definitely need to finish school. After the show, he and I went to Sonic and ate dinner, and just sat there and talked about his mission and about some of his friends and stuff. He showed me the emails that he and Josh Blocker sent back and forth about me, and about some other stuff. Then he drove me to town and showed me around a little bit, and then we went home and watched Ridiculousness until we both were super tired.

Friday, he had to work some, and his mom, Kadison, and Kallie were leaving for Chattanooga for a colorguard competition. So, I went and explored the areas around where he lives. I found some beautiful houses, and I happened to come across this place called Panola Mountain State Park. It had been raining all day, but I decided that I was going to hike down one of the trails just to see what was down in the hills. I found this cute little stream, and of course, I had to take pictures there. Once Trevor got out of school, I went back to their house and his dad cooked dinner for us. (Tyler wasn't home from work yet.) So, it was a little awkward at first, but his dad and brother are hilarious, so the awkwardness didn't last for long. Tyler came home and told me that we were going on a double date, which I totally wasn't expecting. So, we ended up going to see this new move called Divergent with one of his good childhood friends, named Matt Ben, and some other girl, and we ended up going to Waffle House afterwards, and we stayed there for like two hours. When we got home, he decided that he wanted to talk about our relationship, and how I felt about it, and about how I feel about his family. So, we stayed up until like three in the morning just talking.

Saturday, we went to Six Flags, and just had the absolute best time. We met some really awesome people, and laughed almost the entire time. Afterwards, we went to Panda Express and ate, and then went to the horse barn, and brushed them, and put blankets on them because it was supposed to be really cold that night. We ended up at the church, and he pulled a blanket out of his truck and we laid on the ground in the baseball field and talked for like two hours.

TJC

Okay, so I met Tyler at efy the first year that I went. He and his best friend were both in my company. We became friends really quickly, and even afterwards we kept in touch. While he was in the MTC, I wrote him a few times (We both still have the letters we got from each other... And when we were talking about it later on, he could pretty much quote the entirety of mine back to me, meaning that he's read it over and over again.) but I wrote him twice and didn't get a response to either of them, so I quit writing. (He said that he never got them, so what probably happened was I sent the letters to the MTC and he was already out in the field.)

Right when he got back from his mission, he texted me a few times, and we would randomly snapchat, but he was seeing this girl from where he lives, so it never lasted more than a few hours of back and forth conversations. Towards the end of February of 2014, he sent me a snapchat, and it ended up getting really flirty, and then we started texting, and that's when he sent me a text saying "I've wanted to date you since we met at EFY.

Well, I went back to my hometown for Spring Break, and the last Sunday I was there Elder Ballard, like the apostle Elder Ballard... 😳, was speaking at stake conference, and since I was in town I, of course, had to stay and go to it. While I was there, I was doing some praying, about Tyler, and thanking the Lord for making a man who is so great, and about school, and the future, and just some other stuff, and at the end of it, I just had this absolutely amazing feeling about Tyler. Like I don't know if it was about us dating, or anything more serious, but I've never had that with any other guy. And that night he texted me and told me that he got the okay from work to drive down that Monday.

Monday morning, I didn't hear anything from him, and I was absolutely freaking out. I assumed that he wasn't going to come and that he had chickened out. Then at about noon, he texted me and said that he was on his way. The biggest relief was lifted off of my chest. So, I bought him a ticket for Disney and for Universal. I was surprising him with it, cause we had talked about just doing cheap things, like going to our baseball games at school, and a museum and a few other things like that.

Well, he was SO excited when he found out what we were doing. The drive there was superrrrrrrrr awkward at first, just because we haven't seen each other in a while, and then as soon as we found a song that we both love, everything just changed. Like the conversation just flowed. It was so nice just to have someone to talk to who would listen to me. The Magic Kingdom was really busy that night, so we decided to do all of the really lame rides first and then go for the bigger ones later on that night. So, we get on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride and during the middle of the ride, it gets really dark at one point (and he doesn't like scary things) and he reached over and grabbed my hand. So we rode a few other rides and we ended up in the Haunted Mansion, and, of course, it broke down while we were on it. And, that's where our first kiss happened. Right there in the middle of the dark in my favorite place in the world. It was seriously the cutest thing, EVER. Like how many people can say they had their first date AND their first kiss at freaking Disney World?! Definitely not many... At the end of the night, we got off the tram in the parking lot, and start heading to my car. Once we get close to it, I notice that he has walking ahead of me, instead of right next to like he had been doing the rest of the night. Well, he goes and opens my door. 😍 It was the cutest thing everrrrrr. So, I gave him a kiss and got in. And there was a group of girls walking by who were probably about 14 or 15 and they started squealing, and were like "Oh my gosh, that is so sweet! I need a guy like that." It just made me realize even more of how great a guy he is.

Anyways. We didn't get back onto my side of town until almost 2 in the morning. We ended up staying up until 5:30 that morning, and we had to be up two hours after that... But, it was totally worth it. We talked about so much, and honestly don't think I've ever been as comfortable with someone as I am with him. Like I feel like I can tell him things that I have never told anyone. I told him about my family, and all of their problems. He sat there and listened to me, didn't judge me for what they've done, and he listened and actually remembered all of the little things that I had told him.

We went to Universal the next day, and had the best time, even though he was super exhausted. The entire time we were there, he refused to let me get more than a few yards away from him at any point in time. When we were standing in line or walking or anything, he always wanted to be touching me, just to make sure I was still there. Like he would reach out his hand and grab mine, especially when there were a bunch of other guys our age around, or when I was on the phone with my mom, he would put his pinky in my shorts pocket and pull me close. The little things like that are exactly the things that I love for someone to do. And when there were other girls our age around us, he would pull me to him, and kiss me on the forehead, as kind of like a warning to them that he was mine, and that he was completely happy with it. We went home at about 5:30 because he was so tired, and he ended up falling asleep in the car. It was the cutest thing ever. So, we got back to my place and he took a nap.  Later that night, we went to dinner with some of my friends and they love him, thankfully. Afterwards, we went back to my place so that I could study for my two tests the next day, and he decided that he wanted to watch a movie, and just sit with me on the couch while I finished my flashcards. Out of all the movies that I have on hand, and Netflix and everything, he decided to watch Monster's University. Now, you seriously can't tell me that a 21 year old guy would willingly just choose that. That is unless he loves Disney as much as I do.

The next day was his last day here. And it was really weird. We were both up at around 7 that morning, which is definitely not like me at all. We talked until I had to get ready to go take my first test on campus. When I was about to leave, he decided that rather than leaving at noon when I went home between my tests, he wasn't going to leave until 4 that afternoon, which I was totally okay with, obviously. We hadn't really talked about what was going to happen when or after he left, but let me tell you. That was the hardest goodbye I think I've ever had to say to someone. And I had promised him that I wouldn't cry, so when I started to feel the tears coming, I gave him one last kiss and ran away across the parking lot. I didn't do anything for about two hours. I just laid on the floor, curled up in a ball. All I could think about was whether or not he was feeling the same way, and whether I was going to ever hear from him again. My insecurities kicked in hard, and as I sat there, I thought of all of the reasons that a guy like him wouldn't want to be with a girl like me. And then, almost immediately after I was thinking that, he texted me letting me know that he was keeping his promise of not going over 90 while he was on the interstate.

And we've barely stopped talking since...
